Looking for fun things to do this summer? Reno is a hot spot for summer activities and hosts several special events that everyone can enjoy.
#1 Float the Truckee River
The Truckee River is full and flowing! One of the best summer activities that local Reno residents enjoy taking part in is buying a giant inflatable inner tube and taking it for a ride down the river. You can make it an all day event, or go after work for just a couple of hours. Either way, this is a great way to relax and cool down, and the best part, it’s FREE!
#2 Hike the Hunter Creek Trail
One of the most popular hiking trails in Reno is the Hunter Creek Trail which stretches out over 5.7 miles of land. With a beautiful waterfall at the end of the trail, this hiking adventure is perfect for anyone wanting to be closer to nature. I recommend going either earlier in the day or later in the afternoon as this trail is typically heavily trafficked.
#3 Visit Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake
We are very lucky to be so close to such a popular vacation destination such as Lake Tahoe. It’s waters are fresh and blue, and the scenery surrounding the lake is breathtaking. Pyramid Lake is also a short drive away from the city of Sparks and offers sandy beaches to lay on and even overnight camping areas.
#4 Take a day trip to Virginia City
Virginia City is full of history and mystery. Well known for it’s spooky cemetery and haunted hotels, Virginia City is a fun place to shop around, get a bite to eat, and enjoy the company of Reno locals. Whether you plan an overnight stay in one of the haunted hotel rooms, or just want to spend the day walking around, you won’t regret visiting this unique town.
#5 Visit Animal Ark
Animal Ark is a sanctuary for injured, abandoned, and non-releasable wildlife. With a variety of tours and educational events, this is a great place to see some wild animals and enjoy the beauty of nature. This is a fun place for kids and adults to watch animals in a natural habitat while also learning about different types of wildlife.
#6 Watch an Aces Baseball or 1868 Soccer Game
